Research Assistant – Lion social behaviour project

You will be assisting the principal investigators and leading the field staff in the research project focusing on lion social behaviour and cooperative hunting. The project is a collaboration between LEC and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour, Konstanz, Germany (MPI). The role will involve data collection on social structure and group hunting behaviour of lion in the study area from direct observation and tracking-based approaches. You will also be involved in data collection and entry of longterm data on carnivore sightings at LEC.

Research Assistant – Carnivore Population Monitoring

You will be assisting LEC principal investigators and leading the field staff in research activities focusing on carnivore population monitoring in our study area. One of LEC research objectives is to obtain reliable estimates of leopard and lion populations in Khutse G.R. and in its surrounding areas. To obtain those estimates, LEC implements systematic spoor and prey counts along roads and is establishing a cameratrap grid survey. The role will involve assisting with these surveys, as well as data collection and entry of long-term data on carnivore sightings at LEC.
